What causes breast cancer in men
It is still unknown that exactly what causes breast cancer in men. However, research has found some risk factors that increase a man’s chance of developing breast cancer.
The most common risk factors are:
Getting old: The average age of men diagnosed with breast cancer is between 60 and 70 years old.
Family history: Approximately 20% of men with breast cancer have close female relatives who have (or have had) breast cancer.
Less common factors that may increase risk include:
high oestrogen levels
Klinefelter’s syndrome.
Some studies suggest there is a link between the risk of male breast cancer and the following:
some testicular disorders
radiation exposure.
